NONA Child Development Centre

Referrals can by made by families and/or by community service providers with parental consent. Current programs include:

Infant Development Program provides home-based services to families of infants, birth to three years who are at risk for developmental delay or who have a diagnosed disability.

Supported Child Development Program is available to families with a child, birth to 12, requiring extra support in community child care settings of their choice. Settings include group daycares, preschools, family daycares and in-home care. Children 13 years of age and older by exception.

Physio-Occupational Therapy services provide assessment and remediation of gross and fine motor dysfunction and delays including issues of self-help, feeding, positioning and mobility, splinting and casting. Services are available for children birth to five years of age.

Speech-Language Therapy services provide assessment, treatment and consultation regarding communication delays in children, five years and under. The SLP program shares a waitlist with the Health Unit and a copy of each referral is forwarded to the Health Unit for record-keeping purposes.

Music Therapy is available at the Centre to children (birth to school age) who are delayed in more than one skill are, and/or have significant communication impairments.

Family Support Program provides families with special needs children and youth, birth to 18, with information, support, advocacy, one to one consultation, counselling and networking opportunities within the home environment or at our Centre.

Respite Care Program provides parents with a break from the care of their child through screened respite workers, matched to meet child and family needs. Children (birth to 18) who have a mental disability or have an Autism Spectrum disorder or who qualify for the At Home Program are eligible for this service.

Autism Services Program provides families of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder with individualized programs under age 6 and ages 6-18. Programs are available for children who are eligible for provincial Autism Funding.
